NON-GENDER SPIRIT OF GOD
(John 4:24) “God is a spirit and they that worship God must worship God in spirit and truth.”

In an conscious effort to deconstruct the patriarchy and misogyny of the Bible we intentionally and actively refer to God in either gender neutral terms or using female pronouns to embrace God as more than male. This scripture offers us a vision of God that is neither male nor female, and without body. At the same time, most of the Bible and “church” continue to use male pronouns to reference God. We purposely use language to reflect our theology. We welcome and encourage conversation about this practice. We are clear that it is congruent with Scripture and most importantly, it is congruent with our image of God.
