In a time when the world is becoming increasingly more inclusive of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer people, (GLBTQ), in religious/spiritual places, it is important that seekers of spiritual communities are able to distinguish the uniqueness and differences of each ministry in order to determine the best fit. Our spiritual journeys are such a personal process; thus, it is wonderful to live in a time where the options of worship spaces are growing because of the numerous faith leaders who are committed to providing welcoming and inclusive environments for LGBTQ individuals, their families and friends.

Below, we have highlighted what makes Unity Fellowship Church, Baltimore, and (
UFCB), unique. We hope that as you read these highlights you will find what you need to help you decided if UFCB is the place that will support you on your spiritual journey; and we invite you to join us in our worship experience.

HIGHLIGHTS

Unity Fellowship Church, Baltimore, is an African American founded church, offering a traditional “Black Church” worship experience. (i.e. music and fine arts, activities, preaching styles, etc.) and we welcome all people.

While our worship style has a traditional flair, our
THEOLOGY is progressive and liberating. (Please refer to our What We Believe Statement)

We are unapologetically open and affirming of members of the LGBTQ community and their families.

We work actively to help all of our members live full open and authentic lives, both inside and outside of the church.

Inclusion, for us, means people of all races and ethnicities, religious and or spiritual backgrounds (including agnostic or atheist), sexualities/sexual orientations, gender identities/expressions, class, levels of ability, nationality, ages and any other identity/differences.

We believe and lived our motto:
GOD IS LOVE, AND LOVE IS FOR EVERYONE!

We believe that God is bigger than any of our understanding, and that SHE/HE/GOD resides within us as well as the universe.

We seek to cultivate a deeper consciousness and connectedness to our God power and our divinity. We do not define this for anyone. Thus, regardless of how you have come to understand and experience “God”, you are welcome.

We are a social justice ministry that believes it is our responsibility to work to end oppression wherever it exists. We are actively involved in our local community, as well as Greater Baltimore’s Black and LGBTQ communities and beyond.

We are a Bible believing/teaching church; however, we do not hold the Bible as literal or absolute. Our focus is to understand the relevance of the Scriptures in order to serve this present age. (Please refer to our Bible Affirmation)

As a part of the Unity Fellowship Church Movement, (a progressive movement), we are one of the seventeen churches around the country that is committed to the ever unfolding revelations of God in this present age. We are not finished and we celebrate the NEW things God is bringing to us each and every day.
